Looking to Volunteer? In the spring and summer we always need extra volunteers to visit, deliver food bags, drive our elderly friends to medical appointments, and help with outings.  Call Cathy at 482-6944 for more information.

We are gearing up to stage our holiday parties on April 8th, Easter Sunday. We'll have 300 seated guests, and send out another 300 meals to our homebound elderly friends. 300 volunteers will help us mail invitations, track responses, solicit donations of food and party supplies, help us stage the parties, and transport our friends to and from the parties.

Our parties include ham, sweet potatoes, roasted white potatoes, a decorated hall with a table set with candles, music, and a memento and flower for each guest before they depart. Our goal is to welcome our guests as we would members of our own families.

Our parties are designed for those elderly who would otherwise spend this day alone, a common occurence in the Copper Country. Most of those we serve have children that have left the area in search of employment, their spouse has passed on, their siblings are deceased or too infirm get together. With mass transit limited to the cities of Houghton and Hancock, most of our elderly live outside the bus route. We recruit volunteers to transport our 300 guests on the holiday, and to deliver another 300 meals to homebound.
