Volunteer OpportunitiesEach of our locations has year-round volunteer opportunities. We rely heavily on volunteers to carry out all of our activities and programs.
If you would like more information about getting involved and/or would like to sign up to volunteer at an LBFE chapter, go HERE. Here is a sample of some of the opportunities that exist: Visiting VolunteerMany of our elderly friends are waiting to be matched with a volunteer. Each visiting volunteer is paired with an elder for friendship and service: sharing stories, running errands, laughing - all of the various elements of friendship. This volunteer opportunity requires a minimum of a one-year commitment. Party HelperThe network of LBFE hosts parties on each major holiday and also for various occasions throughout the year. Every party requires planning, set-up, cooks, servers, clean-up, and people to socialize with our elderly friends. Volunteers are needed in each of these areas. DriverEach time we hold a party for our elderly friends we need drivers to transport them to and from the party site. The drivers stay at the party to eat with and socialize with the elders. When the music and dancing end, the drivers take the Old Friends back home. Holiday VisitorAt Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter, Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly delivers sumptuous meals and brings holiday cheer into the lives of lonely and needy older people who would otherwise spend the holiday alone. Volunteers visit with our Old Friends in their homes and provide them with companionship and a meal on what would otherwise be a very lonely day. EntertainerWe are always looking for volunteers with special talents to help to provide entertainment at our parties. We welcome talented musicians, singers, magicians, etc. who would like to spend part of an afternoon making our elderly friends smile. Office HelperVolunteers are needed to help with mailings, wrap gifts at the holidays, make phone calls to elders, and help with other miscellaneous tasks.
