The Need for Little Brothers

The number of elderly people in the United States will continue to grow as persons of age 65 and older live longer. According to the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), by 2030 there will be about 70 million elderly, more than twice their number in 1990. As life expectancy increases, so will the number of seniors who must live alone.

Programs such as Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly will become increasingly important to elderly individuals who find themselves isolated from society. As many present services become less personalized and cutbacks are made in special programs for the elderly, LBFE will continue to serve our old friends in the spirit of friendship and love. We look forward to serving more and more seniors as we expand to new locations and our volunteer base grows.

It is the goal of LBFE to make a positive difference in the lives of the elderly throughout the United States. With the continuing support and dedication of our staff, volunteers and donors, we embrace the future with the hope that fewer elders will be forced to grow old alone.
